Site Administrator
Various Projects around Alberta

Reporting to Business Manager with daily reporting and accountability to the Site Manager or Project Superintendent as applicable, the incumbent will be responsible for gathering, recording, and processing information and documentation related to the field operations of the assigned project, specifically relating to field labour, materials, and equipment.  This position may be based in a field location or within the corporate office.

Specific responsibilities will include the following, depending on project size and scope

  • Process all Payroll-related documentation required for the project including employee timesheets, equipment timesheets, daily activity reports (Labour, Equipment and Material (LEM) reports), travel time, time off, leaves, holidays, etc;
  • Reconcile labour hours by verifying timesheets against timekeeping system;

  • Track project inputs including people and equipment hours and materials, work in progress, etc., and perform daily and weekly reporting of same;
  • Process Human Resources information including employee hire and separation information, ensuring all documentation is forwarded to Corporate office as required;
  • Maintain employee lists and sign-in / sign-out documentation as well as safety orientation, toolbox meeting and evacuation lists;
  • Maintain camp registrations and verify billings for accommodation as applicable;
  • Track sub-contractor labour and equipment utilization;
  • Track equipment hour and mileage data and submit to corporate office as required;
  • Ensure data and assets are secure and confidentiality is maintained;
  • Collect data to assist Site Management in trend recognition related to time and materials, advise Management of potential issues;
  • Procurement responsibilities including preparing requisitions, coordinating equipment deliveries, verifying quantities/quality upon receipt, completing receiving reports, and submitting to head office for payment;
  • Administrative tasks including maintenance and distribution of forms, correspondence, filing, ordering office supplies, etc.

The following skills and qualifications are required

  • Minimum 2 years experience in administration, preferably in the field and in an industrial construction environment;
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in accounting, administration or related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution preferred;
  • Proficient using MS Office, as well as CMS or AS400, and accounting software;
  • Advanced organizational skills and experience in managing large volumes of documentation;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong time management skills, confidentiality, and professionalism

Chief Estimator
Edmonton, Alberta

Reporting to the Projects Coordinator, Triton Projects Ltd. and based in Triton’s Edmonton corporate office, this position is responsible for all estimating personnel and budget issues, identifying and tracking leads for future projects, and deciding which projects to pursue. The Chief Estimator is also responsible for reviewing all estimates for Triton Projects Ltd.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Prepare and manage bid packages, ensuring all required documentation/information is included.
  • Assign resources to bids/estimates based on project scope and internal expertise.
  • Prepare civil and mechanical quantity take-offs by discipline (earthworks, concrete, structural, equipment installation, piping fabrication, installation and pressure testing).
  • Prepare and distribute subcontractor RFQ packages for work within project scope but not performed internally, including defining the scope of work, providing drawings, specifications and required documentation (electrical, instrumentation, trucking, buildings, insulation, fire proofing, piling, painting, etc.).
  • Complete detailed cost calculations including labour, material, rentals, subcontracts, and equipment.
  • Determine specific strategies in response to bids including scheduling, execution plan, and subcontractor requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, input and compile information for negotiated work; submit required information to Operations.

 The following skills and qualifications are required:

  • 5 + years of experience in an estimating role, preferably in an industrial construction environment;
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution; technical training in project management, drafting and engineering design, trade certificates, and/or field experience are definite assets;
  • Proficient with office software (MS Word and Excel) and experienced in computerized estimating systems;
  • Experience in reading heavy industrial drawings and specifications and translating them into cost estimates;
  • Heavy industrial project execution planning and critical path scheduling;
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Piping, structural, and electrical experience is a must;
  • Must have worked in Civil Construction, General Contracting, Industrial, and Maintenance estimating;
  • Strong time management skills, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Estimator
Edmonton, Alberta

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, respond to requests for quotes on heavy industrial projects by providing accurate and on time estimates of all costs and determining strategy/approach to get work and at the right price.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Review bid package to ensure all required documentation/information is included, determine if the bid window is feasible or if an extension should be requested, and overview of the bid package to determine if proceeding with the bid is recommended.
  • Assist with assessing the risk associated with a project.
  • Determine what aspects of the bid will be sub-contracted and the requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute the request of quotation (RFQ), including defining the scope of work, providing drawings, specifications and required documentation. 
  • Do the detailed calculations of labour, material, rentals, subcontracts, and equipment.
  • Determine the specific strategies/approach in response to a bid (includes scheduling, how the project will be built, order of installation of components, how much of the project will be sub-contracted). Determine alternative strategies and approaches, if required (e.g. suitable subcontractors do not respond to the RFQ).
  • Draft execution plan and determine scheduling
  • Document all deviations and exceptions from what was specified in the bid request.
  • Determine and cost all indirect costs (e.g. supervision, overhead, temporary construction equipment, site facilities, consumables, etc.)
  • Compare the bid and schedule to ensure they are consistent.  Identify and prepare additional optional proposals that increase client value by providing alternatives, which may save money, solve problems or improve project execution.
  • Prepare for submittal the bid breakdown and unit rates according to owner requirements on approved bids
  • Organize bid information into files, enter data and prepare a bid binder for turnover to operations.

 The following skills and qualifications are required:

  • 5 + years of experience in all aspects of estimating in heavy industrial construction, maintenance, and/or fabrication.
  • Ability to visualize the actual detailed scope of work by looking at the drawings.
  • Able to read heavy industrial drawings and specifications and translate them into cost estimates and actions.
  • Heavy industrial project execution planning and critical path scheduling.
  • Experience in the preparation and evaluation of sub-contractor RFQs.
  • Advanced computer processing and spreadsheet skills, including keyboarding (Excel, Word and Primavera)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Training in Winest, Piping, and drafting an asset.  Must be able to read drawings.  CAD may be an asset.
  • Good communication skills -- verbal and written
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Able to deal with detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Scheduling/logistic experience; training is an asset.
  • Analysis and an ability to draw linkages between diverse information
  • Piping, Structural and electrical experience is a must
  • Must have worked in Civil Construction, General Contracting, Industrial, and Maintenance estimating
  • Problem solving and analysis skills related to project execution design

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Working in conjunction with the Human Resource Team to staff Triton Projects Trades requirements; 

  • Full cycle recruitment of trades, labour, and project administration personnel required to meet the needs of Construction, Maintenance, and Fabrication business units for ongoing and project positions;

  • Represent the Company to prospective employees at trade and educational venues;

  • Maintain field employee listings, including crew size and breakdowns, training and other relevant information;

  • Evaluate, summarize and provide timely reporting on work schedules for the project management and client, including progress, percent complete, critical activities, slippage, forecasts and manpower requirements of upcoming scheduled activities;

  • Maintain current maintenance schedule, baseline schedule, and other project control schedules

Safe Work Practices:
